For over 30 years Howard Park has been one of Western Australia’s pioneering family-owned wineries, specialising in the State’s foremost grape-growing regions of Margaret River & the Great Southern. The Howard Park wine range is the culmination of its four vineyards – two in Margaret River (Leston in Wilyabrup & Allingham in Karridale) and two in the Great Southern (the Abercrombie & Mount Barrow, both in Mount Barker). Our wines are made according to two principles. They are either the top fruit of each of these wine regions blended together to create an optimal result, or they are standalone wines made from each region separately, to portray their unique terroir characteristics.

TASTING NOTES

Margaret River is arguably Australia's premier Cabernet Sauvignon grape growing region and Cabernet Sauvignon its greatest natural asset. Great Cabernet should be both perfumed and poised, and meticulous site selection is critical to achieving these key attributes.

Deep garnet in colour with classic cabernet aromas of mint, violets, savory dry herbs and blackcurrant, and hints of smoky oak. The palate is fresh and bright, with red berries and plums, and a fine acid structure. While the juicy freshness makes this an enjoyable wine to drink young, it’s good balance between fruit weight, tannin and oak suggests the wine will age gracefully.

Food Ideas: Saltbush spit roasted lamb, with wild rosemary gravy.
